Story: Adapted from Nick Flynn's 2004 memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, Being Flynn stars Paul Dano as a social worker and would-be writer working in a homeless shelter. Robert De Niro co-stars as his father, a drunk who left Nick and mother Julianne Moore--and now he's coincidentally turned up at the aforementioned homeless shelter. Ut ohhhhh! How will De Niro handle this belligerent father-son relationship when it no longer make sense to shout "Focker!" as hilarious catharsis? How long will it take Julianne Moore to break down weeping? Will Paul Dano's lanky frame finally collapse from being so, so fragilely Paul Dano-esque? Investigate these pressing questions with this first trailer for Being Flynn:

Director Paul Weitz’s official first trailer for Being Flynn has hit the web. The movie is an adaption from Nick Flynn’s memoir, published in 2004, that was titled Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. The big screen feature includes well known actors Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore, Paul Dano and Olivia Thirlby.

Set to open in the spring of 2012, Being Flynn chronicles one writer’s discovery of his absentee father, who he encounters years later, homeless and living in a shelter. According to the cast line-up Paul Dano will play the central character with Robert De Niro on board as the homeless father. Julianne Moore will play Dano’s mother, and Thirlby will take on the role of a shelter worker.

Judging by the trailer Weitz’s latest venture covers some heavy issues with an unpredictable and intriguing storyline. Check out the official Being Flynn synopsis below and watch the trailer.

“The new dramatic feature from Academy Award-nominated writer/director Paul Weitz tells the story of a young writer, Nick (portrayed by Paul Dano), who takes a job at a homeless shelter – where one night he discovers his long-absent father Jonathan (two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro) seeking a bed. Julianne Moore portrays the writer’s mother Jody; and Olivia Thirlby portrays Denise, a worker at the shelter.”
