USA Today has the first-ever glimpse of The Lorax, which is being made by the same people who made Horton Hears a Who.

According to the article, The Lorax will be voiced by Danny DeVito and the evil Once-ler will be voiced by Ed Helms (The Hangover.) And a new baddie will be played by Rob Riggle (whose character, O'Hare, is a fresh air salesman). Also lending their voices to this film are Zac Efron, who will play the little boy in the beginning of the tale named Ted, and Betty White, who is taking on the part of his grandmother

Story: Right o, I don’t want to spoil the experience for you guys, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet.

On June 16, 2009, Screen Australia announced that John Marsden’s “Tomorrow, When The War Began” was to be made into a film. After a short bout of unintentional girlish squealing, similar to what I’m told is commonly seen throughout Twilight films, I managed to calm myself and began thinking about what this means to the thousands of fans. A story that means so much to so many people was about to be reinvented for the big screen. Many concerns were voiced from fans, and admittedly, I had my own.

Ellie (played by Caitlin Stasey) is Tomorrow’s protagonist. For me, Ellie was what had to be right in the film adaptation, above anything else. It’s her story, and if she wasn’t played right, the film would fall apart. After “officially” waiting since 2004 for a Tomorrow film, my concerns were well and truly quashed, when I saw the film a week ago at its world premiere in Sydney.

Caitlin, we want to hug you.

The chemistry between the cast was outstanding, from the very faithful, perfectly written and delivered dialogue, to the subtle glances and natural reactions between each actor.

The locations were beautiful. The opening shots of Wirrawee and the surrounding land, following Ellie’s camcorder introduction, particularly stuck with me.

Each character is introduced early on, faithfully to how they were in the novel, and what surprised me more than anything throughout the film was how funny certain scenes were. Homer’s (Deniz Akdeniz) introduction in the beginning, where he exits a police station wearing a t-shit with “F#@K THE POLICE” printed on the front, particularly comes to mind. As we know, upon returning from Hell (which was breathtakingly beautiful, needless to say), the group finds their homes deserted, and make their way into town to suss things out. This is the turning point for the film, where the group and the audience are violently thrown into the war.

Stuart Beattie has put a lot of emphasis on giving each character a strong personality. The humour present in the novel has been really accentuated, along with the characters’ transitions into living in a war zone. Several scenes were changed, and several scenes were written from scratch, but it all works. Chris (Andy Ryan) and Robyn (Ashleigh Cummings) have been altered in several ways in the film, as mentioned by John Marsden, but this also works. Chris is uniquely loveable in a way that wasn’t really present in the novel, and Robyn has been given a much more obvious point of normal-life to war-life transition, which was incredibly moving.

Being objective is almost impossible for me, having waited for a Tomorrow film for so long, having had my own ideas on how it should be done, and seeing the ideas of many other people. I did however manage to walk into the cinema with a clear mind, hoping for something good but having no expectations… and I left the cinema jumping. I’ve been buzzing since, and will be seeing Tomorrow: When The War Began many more times, when it’s officially released.

­“The challenge is to make people laugh. And make a message of humanity, but not with a hammer and a nail,” Fiona Gordon explains.

The Belgian-Canadian duo came together two decades ago. Now their latest comedy The Fairy is about to hit on screens in America and will be released on DVD in Russia.

With fans as far afield as Japan to Belgium to Brazil, how do they know that something is funny?

“That’s always the biggest problem,” Fiona replies. “We don’t!” We never know until the first audience sees the film,” the actress told RT.

“The first rule is that it has to make us laugh,” her partner Dominique adds. “We use a lot of improvisation in the process of creating. We spend a few months finding a simple story – touching but simple – and then we try it out. That’s where it can flourish, or it can be very bad and deceiving,” Abel explains

­Body language, the clown actors reveal, is vital for them. Does the body never lie, though?

“Well, it does lie, but that’s what is interesting,” Fiona agrees. “Different actions can contradict what the person is trying to communicate and make you understand that it’s not exactly what the person is thinking. You can also exaggerate and say more than what’s meant, because we have little control of what our bodies say, much less control than we do of what we say. When you speak you reflect on what you’re going to say, and we are not used to doing it with the rest of our bodies. So it’s great that way because we make accidents, and we like accidents!”

The first lesson Charlie Chaplin gave his daughter, Geraldine, was when he told her to be ready to get rejected. Did Abel and Gordon decide to make movies all by themselves, directing, writing and acting in them in order not to be rejected by fellow filmmakers?

“We knew we had to do it ourselves because the kinds of films that we like are done that way and we like to be the clowns-authors, the clown cinematographers. We don’t want to be comics playing in comedies,” Abel replied.

“When you play, you need to have this sort of crocodile skin with regards to criticism. You need to be confident as a performer,” Fiona added.

Although the duo likes to play with the awkwardness of people, they say they are not attracted by the art of parody. “We don’t want to make fun of the other. We prefer to work with our own imperfection,” the Belgian comic, Abel pointed out.

Story: It's a familiar tale of territorial rights and family honor but it is told well and the film features appealingly natural performances by non-professionals. It could reach beyond festivals in certain territories, particularly those that have populations with a Balkan heritage.

In the rural north of the formerly communist nation, bread is still delivered by horse and cart but every teenager has a mobile phone. The police have modern vehicles and weapons but elders dish out justice according to the 15th-century Balkan code known as the Kanun.

A conflict over the right of way on one family's land leads to anger and violence. When a man dies, there is no way to avoid a blood feud. Marston and Albania-born screenwriter Andamion Murataj have fashioned an absorbing tale about the impact of such old-fashioned rules, especially on the younger generation.

The director has a good eye and British cinematographer Rob Hardy (Boy A, Red Riding) captures shrewdly the many contrasts of ancient and modern in tools, buildings and terrain.

Refet Abazi plays Mark, a delivery man whose daily route with horse and cart has taken him across trails used since his grandfather owned much of the land. But a temperamental man named Sokol (Veton Osmani) now owns the land and he places rocks on the ground to block Mark's way.

When Sokol insults him and his family in the presence of his teenaged daughter Rudina (Sindi Lacej), Mark returns with his brother Zef (Luan Jaha) to set things right. The encounter occurs offscreen but soon Zokol is dead, Zev is in prison, and Mark is in hiding.

A blood feud is declared that means Mark's teenaged son Nik (Tristan Halilaj) and his little brother cannot leave the house in fear of retribution. Nik, who has ambitions of opening an Internet cafe once he graduates and has a school sweetheart, Bardha (Zana Hasaj), chafes under incarceration. However, Rudina thrives in her new duties driving the horse and cart to deliver bread and other goods.

Marston sets a level of increased tension as Sokol's family make further threats and attempt to intimidate Rudina while Nik risks his life to sneak out at night to see his girlfriend. Loyalties become strained as the youngsters begin to challenge what they see as the stubborn futility of the old ways.

The contrasts between unspoiled countryside and urban development and the clash between rural intransigence and youthful impatience add depth to an accomplished and suspenseful drama.

Story: On Monday February 13, 2012 I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of Act of Valor. I was invited by the Cinema Society of San Diego in return for sharing my thoughts of the movie with their organization following the screening. Most of those in attendance were members of the society, though I did see a few (5 or 6) frogmen faces I recognized, which were easy to distinguish from the regular patrons of their group.

I arrived a few minutes early for an introduction from Cinema Society director, Andrew Friedenberg. He talked about the unique access the production company had to the SEAL community and paid patronage to Navy SEALS and the military in general. He explained that in 2007, Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh of Bandito Brothers Production filmed a video for the Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) which led the Navy to allow them to use SEALs. After spending so much time working closely with the SEALs, McCoy and Waugh conceived the idea for a modern day action movie about this covert and elite fighting force. As Act of Valor developed with the SEALs on board as advisors, the film makers realized that no actors could realistically portray or physically fill the roles they’d written and the actual SEALs were drafted in to the film. The Navy agreed to the making of this film to “right the wrongs” made by past attempts to portray Navy SEALs in film (Navy SEALs, Silver Strand, GI Jane, etc) and allowed unprecedented access to our world.

Filming took place in Cambodia where an explosion was shot in Phnom Penh with 300 children as extras.Scenes were shot in San Diego at Blue Foot Bar and in a house in the North Park area. Other locations included Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Florida, and at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The crew filmed at Navy training sites to provide realistic settings, such as a drug cartel base, a terrorist camp on an isolated island, and a smuggler’s yacht.

ACT OF VALOR stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs in a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure. Although this is “docudrama,” the tactics are real the action is some of the most realistic I’ve ever seen on film. If you’re familiar with recent heroics and tragedies of our community, you will see many of these played out in the film and will draw raw emotion from the viewer.

The movie not only includes active duty Navy SEALs, but I noticed that a few of the support staff were also people I’ve worked with in the teams, such as a very well respected intelligence officer who works with Naval Special Warfare. The movie also does a great job of showing the emotional side of deployments and the brotherhood in the Teams. Although the action and the tactics are very realistic, Navy SEALS who view the movie will see a few things they know are not right, but the rest of the audience will not notice. I know some of my tactical brothers will hate when they see a grenade thrown and it causes a huge explosion (this is not what really happens), but I find it entertaining and love seeing those made-for-movie effects.

In the end it’s a great action film and the SEAL actors actually did a great job on screen. I personally do not think the Navy should be making films about SEALS or have them on screen, but I hope that that this movie will help show that SEALS are just regular people with extraordinary skills and a desire to serve and protect our country. I also hope that those who have never served in the military or spent a day outside the safety of our boarders see that there really are bad people in the world who wish to bring harm to our great nation in the name of their religion. I highly recommend seeing this film, but please don’t bring any children. It’s rated R for graphic violence including torture, and for strong language.

The police think Jill is crazy and are unwilling to use their resources to help her. Story: Aniston, 43, said by the time she had to do her naked scenes on Wanderlust she had seen so much nudity on set that she didn't give a thought.

"You do get nervous when there's a day where it's oops, I'm naked," Aniston, who met her real-life boyfriend, Justin Theroux, 40, on set. The pair got together in May last year after filming was complete..

"I wouldn't go topless for a cause, going to such an extreme to make a difference.

"But we've been among these people in this environment for almost two months.

"The topless scene was nothing compared to what happened in the two months prior.

"There was an actor naked the whole time getting his touch-ups and everybody else just having a normal conversation."

Wanderlust - about a a Manhattan couple who decide to experiment with living on a rural hippy commune where free love rules - was filmed in Clarkesville, Georgia.

"There was a real community feeling," Aniston said. "We were in the middle of nowhere and we were all a hop, skip and a jump from each other peppered around this lake.

"The farthest people were 20 minutes away. After work we had dinner together and we spent the weekends together."

Jennifer plays Manhattan girl Linda who, along with her husband George (Paul Rudd), ditches their city life.

"If there's anything that appeals to me about the hippy lifestyle it's the carefreeness, the free love, the open doors - the no doors," Aniston said.

"The free love thing wasn't happening on set, though."

It's the latest big-screen outing for Jennifer who, since the last episode of Friends in 2004, has starred in several romantic comedies, including The Break-Up, He's Just Not That Into You and The Switch.

Jennifer denies she's been type-cast and reveals she's happy to be Hollywood's rom-com queen — and isn't put off by crass toilet humour as seen in the recent comedy smash, Bridesmaids.

Jennifer says: "When choosing my roles I look for if I laugh, if I enjoy myself, if I don't get bored.

"If I see that there's something emotional that I can connect to and if I can imagine myself having fun at work, it sort of evolves.

"I really love comedy. I've loved it my whole life. I love making people laugh and I love laughing.

"I also love the comedies that are emotional and have a reality base in there. Wanderlust has this.

"I couldn't be in films like the rude eighties classic Porky's. They're great but I just wouldn't do well in them.

"Still if it's funny I go for it.

"Like in Bridesmaids. That's a fun movie."

Though, referring to the scene where Melissa McCarthy's Megan has to use a salon's sink as a loo, she adds: "I'd be the girl c******g in the sink, of course."

This troubling feature exposes the five-month span the pair spends together.

If you've watched as much Investigation Discovery as I have, you knew with a sickening certainty where this trailer was headed as soon as you spotted the soundproofed door. Michael's writer-director Markus Schleinzer admits his inspiration for the troubling tale sprang from the shocking true story of an Austrian man who kept his own daughter locked away in his basement, where he raped her for more than 24 years, eventually fathering three children, who he also locked away. This perturbing narrative marks the directorial debut of Schleinzer, a casting director who has helped cull the talent for such acclaimed and unnerving features as The White Ribbon, The Piano Teacher, and The Counterfeiters.

Story: We here at VeryAware are always ones for niche market films. That said, we are eagerly awaiting the release of Michael R. Roskam’s BULLHEAD. Unfortunately we missed the boat on it not once (at Fantastic Fest), but twice (at AFI Fest)! But that ends now, dear readers. While y’all fervently anticipate our full review, check out the trailer below for the Belgium’s nominee at this year’s Oscars for Best Foreign Film.

Perhaps the year’s most stunning international debut, BULLHEAD is a harrowing tale of revenge, redemption and fate. Domineering cattle farmer Jacky Vanmarsenille (Matthias Schoenaerts in a ferocious breakout performance), constantly pumped on steroids and hormones, initiates a shady deal with a notorious mafioso meat trader. When an investigating federal agent is assassinated and a woman from his traumatic past resurfaces, Jacky must confront his demons and face the far-reaching consequences of his decisions.

While many of you are rushing out to check out the 2012 Oscar Nominated Best Pictures, one that you should make time in the Best Foreign Film category is ‘Bullhead‘ which puts some of the American picks to shame.

Drafthouse Films picked up ‘Bullhead‘, a real gem of a crime thriller, so it will only be going into select cities since it picked up an Academy Award nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. If you live in a reasonable distance, go check out this film. It quite the intense thrill ride and deserves to be in more theaters than just ‘select’ ones.

I found it odd that the Weinstein Company or Paramount Vantage didn’t grab this up since it could easily find an audience, but I think it should find a good one when it hits dvd/blu-ray. If you saw ‘A Prophent’ then this will be right up your alley, plus it’s even more intense than that one. Below are the first international trailer for ‘Bullhead’ aka ‘Rundskop’ along with the US trailer that just hits, and plenty of posters and images of the film to get your interest up.

For some reason Matthias Schoenaerts reminds me of Tom Hardy in this very physical role and how he’s infused himself so much with the character. If you’ve seen Hardy in ‘Bronson‘ you’ll get what I mean.

Story: I was lucky enough to attend a screening of On The Ice at the Sundance Film Festival last night, followed by a Q&A with the director and crew. For those of you interested in Independent Movies, or good movies in general, On The Ice is definitely one put on your list.

On The Ice is a thriller based in the small Alaskan town of Barrow. It was adapted by Andrew Okpeaha MacLean from a short (Sikumi) that premiered at Sundance a few years ago.

The beginning of the film serves to introduce the incredibly unique northern Alaskan culture; Barrow is like an island of ice, snowmobiles, and the rapidly evolving Iñupiaq culture. Residents travel between their modest houses on snowmobiles, and the teenagers perform in a native dance exhibition before heading to a rap party. This fascinating juxtaposition of history, western culture, and environmental demands create a movie worth watching; but then the actors draw you in.

All of the actors in the film literally had no previous acting experience, which is absolutely astounding considering the magnitude of their performance. The main characters Qalli (Josiah Patkotak) and Aivaaq (Frank Qutuq Irelan), are two friends in the transition period between high school and what comes after high school. For Qalli it’s college, far away from Barrow. and for Aivaaq it’s being a father to his recently conceived child. One morning while hunting, a drug-influenced fight ends with a third boy (John Miller) accidentally being killed. Qalli and Aivaaq, horrified and worried about their future, make a rash decision; a decision which brings chaos and heartache to the secluded town.

With a well-written story, a powerful score, and beautiful cinematography, On The Ice is exactly what you hope a Sundance movie to be. It is a thought-provoking look at self-preservation and friendship, all set against a back-drop never before showcased in a film. If you have the chance to see it before Sundance is over, make sure you do. If not, keep your eyes out, because it’s likelihood of distribution is high.

Story: This week was the final movie class of the Fall Semester and we saw the drama “Thin Ice” (AKA “The Convincer”) starring Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup, Lea Thompson and Bob Balaban.

When an insurance salesman tries to scam an old man, he inadvertently gets involved in a murder – but will he be able to get away with both crimes?

Mickey Prohaska (Kinnear) is one of the sleaziest and most dishonest insurance salesmen you have ever had the displeasure to meet; either despite or as a direct result of his duplicitous behavior, his Wisconsin-based insurance business is suffering – and the fact that he’s incurring additional expenses due to the recent separation from his wife Jo Ann (Thompson) doesn’t help financial matters either. So, when an opportunity arises to write an unnecessarily expensive insurance policy for Gorvy (Arkin), an eccentric elderly man who lives with his beloved dog, Mickey grabs it tightly with both hands refusing to let go.

In the course of working on the policy, Mickey learns that Gorvy owns an expensive antique violin, valued at around $25,000 by a professional appraiser (Balaban). Recognizing that the doddering old man is barely aware he even owns the musical instrument, Mickey sees this as a chance to cash in by selling the violin himself and pocketing the money. Devising a plan to replace the actual violin with a fake, Mickey tries to gain entry to Gorvy’s place but can’t due to a recently-installed security system for which he doesn’t know the code. Randy (Crudup), the belligerent locksmith who originally installed the system, is convinced by Mickey to grant him access to the house. Once there, Randy discovers Mickey’s true intent and immediately wants in on the scheme in exchange for not reporting Mickey to the police. Reluctantly, Mickey agrees – but when Randy kills a nosy neighbor snooping around Gorvy’s house at the time, the crime now escalates to something beyond what either of them had originally anticipated.

Quickly disposing of the body, the two men now turn their attention to rapidly selling the instrument so that they can acquire the money and finally be done with each other once and for all. Complications develop, however, when the police begin to investigate Gorvy’s missing neighbor. Getting increasingly nervous, Randy threatens to provide evidence to the police of Mickey’s plot about the insurance scam and complicity in the murder when he finds out that Mickey is somewhat cooperating with their investigation. But when the pair ultimately determine that they have found a buyer for the antique, can they get their payday before the cops get wise?

Given all of the plot contrivances piling up one after another throughout this movie, I have to admit that I really had quite a good deal of trouble with this script and as a result, can’t recommend “Thin Ice” very strongly when it opens next month -- if indeed it does (more about that later). Despite the fact that it has an excellent cast and the movie played at the Sundance Film Festival, this story has so many problems with it that at some point, I found it difficult to suspend my disbelief due to the number of dramatic conceits that occurred. One bright spot about this movie was Billy Crudup’s performance as the security system installer – he was simultaneously funny and frightening.

Another problem with the movie is that the story can tend to be a little confusing, what with all of the twists and double-crosses. One thing our instructor mentioned – and I have to admit that I must agree with him on this point -- was that “Thin Ice” was particularly confusing when the filmmakers try to explain how the story is resolved at the end of the movie; too much information is crammed down the viewer’s throat too quickly and the net result is that very little (if any of it) can be processed.

You may find it something of a challenge in the event you want to see this movie. For one thing, the title may change. We saw this movie under the title of “Thin Ice”, but our instructor told us that up until about three weeks ago, it was known as “The Convincer”. If you do a little research on this movie, you may find information about it under either title. Another reason you may find “Thin Ice”/”The Convincer” challenging is because it has a history of being wrapped up in so many lawsuits, there’s a strong possibility that it may never even get released at the end of January as is currently scheduled. Good luck!

Prior to the screening, actress Jill Hennessy was interviewed. You might know Hennessy from such television series as “Law & Order” and “Crossing Jordan”. While she didn’t have any association to the film we saw this night, she was there to discuss her experience on the film “Roadie” (which we saw in our movie class a couple of weeks ago) and also to promote the fact that she is performing as a singer/guitarist at various clubs here in New York City. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Hennessy’s family eventually moved to Toronto, where she took up with street performers as a singer during her teenage years. As a result of hanging out with the musicians, she was eventually able to teach herself how to play the guitar. At the end of the interview, she performed one of her own compositions, which appeared in the film “Roadie”.

Story: Walt Disney Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for The Secret World of Arrietty, an animated adventure developed by Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Ponyo) and is based on Mary Norton’s acclaimed children’s book series The Borrowers.

The film is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and featuring a voice cast for the English-language version including Bridgit Mendler, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett, Will Arnett, David Henrie and Moises Arias.

In the film, Arrietty (Bridgit Mendler), a tiny, but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper (Carol Burnett). Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ett-ee) remains hidden from view, except during occasional covert ventures beyond the floorboards to “borrow” scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human hosts. But when 12-year-old Shawn (David Henrie), a human boy who comes to stay in the home, discovers his mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms. If discovered, their relationship could drive Arrietty’s family from the home and straight into danger.

Disney is finally bringing us the official English Dub of Miyazaki’s “The Secret World of Arrietty.” The new trailer launched Tuesday on Youtube and iTunes, and sets the North American release date at February 17th, 2012.

“The Secret World of Arrietty” is Miyazaki’s faithful adaptation of the classic book “The Borrowers,” a 1952 children’s novel by Mary Norton. It follows the adventures of the Clock family, who believe they are the last of their kind and must live in a world surrounded by giants. Dangers and the unknown are ever present, and make for a fantastic tale!

Not only is Miyazaki’s adaptation much closer than that of the prior Borrower’s film and miniseries – it also breathes that very special magic and whimsy that so many Studio Ghibli films possess.

Starring Will Arnett, Luke Allen-Gale, Carol Burnett, Amy Poehler, and Saoirse Ronan – this film is definitely another must-see from Miyazaki and his talented crew. I have always been extremely impressed with Disney’s English dub-work, and they have done a fantastic job marketing and distributing Studio Ghibli’s films in the U.S. – “The Secret World of Arrietty” is sure to be another hit.

The winner will be named at the Critics Choice Awards ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in LA on January 12, 2012. Last year’s doc winner was Davis Guggenheim’s Waiting for “Superman.”

With an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature already under its belt, Undefeated, which opens in theaters Feburary 17th, is sure to leave audiences captivated and inspired.

Set against the backdrop of a high school football season, Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin’s documentary UNDEFEATED is an intimate chronicle of three underprivileged student-athletes from inner-city Memphis and the volunteer coach trying to help them beat the odds on and off the field.

Founded in 1899, Manassas High School in North Memphis has never seen its football team, the Tigers, win a playoff game. In recent decades, the last-place Tigers had gone so far as to sell its regular season games to rival schools looking to chalk up an easy win.

That began to change in 2004, when Bill Courtney, former high school football coach turned businessman, volunteered to lend a hand. When Courtney arrived, the Tigers were accustomed to timeworn equipment and a sorry patch of lawn as a practice field. Rather than giving up and allowing one of the two to continue seeing Witherspoon, Hardy and Pine put their CIA gadgetry and know-how to work in order to derail each another’s relationship with the girl.

Why Tom Hardy, WHY?!? Well, as my buddy Dylan explained to me, Hardy has just done three serious films, and he needed to do fast, easy, for the money comedy. Like, Natalie Portman coming off “Black Swan” with “No Strings Attached” to follow. I’m not a Reese Witherspoon fan to begin with so I already knew I wouldn’t enjoy much of the film while she’s present on screen. As for Chris Pine…well, I can’t get the Captain Kirk mindset off.

Two top CIA operatives, FDR Foster (Chris Pine) & Tuck (Tom Hardy) wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman (Reese Witherspoon), Lauren. After several dates, and some heavy spy work between both parties, Lauren is caught in the middle of a major dilemma, who’s the perfect guy for her? Meanwhile, there’s a subplot involving a really angry German bad guy named Heinrich (Til Schweiger), who’s after FDR & Tuck for killing Henrich’s brother.

Guys want an action movie and the ladies want the romantic comedy, honestly I think both groups are going to be seriously disappointed. The action sequences are lame at the very best, and the romantic shit is so by the book it becomes tiresome. The movie steals certain little things from every movie you can think of, including “Goodfellas”! Can you believe that?!? “Goodfellas”! It’s the scene where FDR & Lauren go on their first date, personally I think only a real movie buff would notice this, but if you’ve seen “Goodfellas” it’s really not hard to miss.

Now the movies story overall sucks, you know exactly how it’s gonna end from the beginning of the film, all that’s left is to sit through an hour and a half of the inevitable. It’s a McG film, can you expect any less? This is the man behind the “Charlie’s Angels” movies. But, are the actors funny? Reese, I could care less, she is all kinds of annoying here. Chris Pine has his moments, but all I saw in him was his Captain Kirk character in J.J. Abram’s “Star Trek” (P.S. can’t freakin’ wait for “2”). Now, Tom Hardy & co-star Chelsea Handler seem to be having the most fun here. Hardy is breaking out into American audience quite quickly, “The Dark Knight Rises” will certainly put the official staple on all things Tom, but I can’t help but feel bad that he had to do a crappy rom-com-action flick like this. Chelsea, she’s funny, she’s not my cup of tea on TV, but I’ll give her credit, she’s FUNNY in this movie.

It’s quite sad to see that the supporting players, even some of the minimal background characters of the film, are getting WAY more laughs than what the lead cast is throwing at us. And wait a sec, was that Angela Bassett in a point less and highly underused supporting role? I think that was! I could go off for hours on why I think you people should skip this film, but I know that people disregard what critics have to say, so, whatever see, don’t see it, I could give a rats ass. All I know is this, I saw the movie early & FREE at a press screening, that’s fine by me.
